This #TackleKidsCancer post is sponsored by Tackle Kids Cancer. As always, my #morethan4 thoughts and opinions are my own.
Tis the season for giving. Of sharing the magic this time of the year holds. For bringing the holly and jolly and all things merry making to our homes and the community around us. But also for paying the goodness brought to us in our year forward to others. And that is why I’m partnering with Tackle Kids Cancer and hope you will support them too!
This year my children are 6 and 9. The special key for Santa is still hung on the door. But Christmas is already changing. Wish lists ask for hover boards instead of dolls. For money instead of markers. For many, money isn’t a “fun” gift to give. But for those benefiting from it, it’s a very FUNctional one.
Personally, after Santa visits this year, my children will get my spiel. I will gift them both money as requested. But only ever in their name to a charity. And this year I’m choosing to support Hackensack University Medical Center’s Tackle Kids Cancer program.
It’s my hope that our donation helps programs such as the Pony Power Therapies farm in Mahwah, New Jersey. While in AmeriCorp *NCCC, I had the amazing opportunity to work with a similar rehabilitation program. And witnessing the newfound confidence and even added physical therapy advantages that these kids get from enjoying their work with the horses was amazing.
Much like the benefits that Gabriella experienced in the video below. A pediatric cancer patient at HackensackUMC, she loved her time at Pony Powers. I was thrilled to see that siblings can even join for a shared experience. Plus, sharing her experience can help you see the smile your monetary gift can bring to such a worthy cause.
So this year, as you set those funds aside for gifts. I challenge you to do the same. Find those FUNctional money requests listed for Santa and forward them on to great purpose in the names of those you love. And please do consider an online donation to Tackle Kids Cancer research and programs when you do!
