Welcome to my {daily} post as part of the #BlogHer National Blogging PostingMonth! Or as its more commonly known…NaBloPoMo. Each month there will be a theme, and each day there is a “raw” writing challenge. Each weekend, we are left to our devices to dabble as we please. Length is not a requirement, not even words…only creativity. And the determination to write/post each day, every day, uniquely to the task at hand.
So with the new writing challenge of the day being on whether you would tackle Sky Diving? I can safely say NO. Nada. Never gonna happen. I feel quite sufficiently challenged for adventure firmly planted on the ground. But that doesn’t mean you have to let the summers’ heat only mellow the mind or slow you down.
Summer for me? Begs for road trips. All of a sudden I’m getting flashbacks of jumping on hot vinyl seats and of gas fumes smelling like an aphrodisiac. And the quick-stop stations swiftly evoke my romance of Combo memories and Diet Dew-y days. Breakfast was just a Natures Valley granola bar away and it felt like fine dining to stop in at McDonalds.
I have traveled the majority of the United States as well as pit-stops in Mexico {insert booze here} and Canada {Aye}. Really, I’ve known more Canadians to actually say “please” and “thank you” then any other stranger I’ve ever met. So polite! And the fact their Niagara Falls looks like a airbrushed version of ours only continues to boggle this travelers mind. Either they have a whole lot more judicial community service orders picking that stuff up or they should teach some classes on ecological responsibility. Tijuana? So not going there. Yes, I actually did go there, but my Mom reads this. So lets just say they know how to pickle. {And honestly, what drunk-butt decided that was a great idea sober?}
Been to the northern most Denny’s in the world! {Just how many of you can say that one.} And spent the summer feeling the 24/7 sun shining in Alaska. I may like a great sourdough bread, but I left before the eternal night fell that Fall. So where does that leave me now? Yellowstone – check. Did miss Old Faithful…apparently my sense of timing wasn’t as good as Mother Natures. Hit up the Bikers Fest in Sturgis! THAT was an experience. Lets see, what else? I got to chug my way thru the upper US on Amtrack {train people, Choo-Choo. Montana ain’t Mexico if that’s what your thinking}. Lived in California and spent a year with AmeriCorp *NCCC traveling all up and down the west coast doing the good deeds.
OH…and I have made the holy grail of journeys to none other then Seattle’s Pikes Place Market. Got to see ’em slinging fish while I sipped from a cup of the worlds best coffee. {Actually a title held by many it turns out.} But this was none other then the liquid gold brewed at the first and original Starbucks coffee shop. {Hallelujah!}
Hmmm. It appears my adventures are longer to describe then this post will allow. But I think you get the picture. Where have I not traveled yet? The northeast. I would love to ride the train and see the leaves changing, breweries brewing, pumpkin fests, and douse maple syrup on everything edible up that way. Well, that and take my kids to the Happiest Place On Earth, aka DisneyWorld {did you KNOW they serve Starbucks coffee now!} I just don’t think it could get any better then getting the chance to wear mouse ears and parade around like a 3 year old on too much frosting. Big plans people!
What about you? Where would your next adventures take you?
