Welcome to my {daily} post as part of the #BlogHer National Blogging PostingMonth! Or as its more commonly known…NaBloPoMo. Each month there will be a theme, and each day there is a “raw” writing challenge. Each weekend, we are left to our devices to dabble as we please. Length is not a requirement, not even words…only creativity. And the determination to write/post each day, every day, uniquely to the task at hand.
If you could eat anything…right now, what would it be?
I’ve always loved making food fun. Whether its dining out or eating grand on big occasions. I love the flair, I love the pomp, and I love adding a great bottle of wine too. The best experiences of my pregnancies were food-based too. With my daughter? Food was euphoric and my palette was so defined I could taste food down to singular spices. I remember thinking that one day this baby {I didn’t know her gender till birth} was destined to be a chef or food critique.
And then we have my son’s pregnancy. To say I was miserable was an understatement. I was starving all the time. Not just hungry or “Oh, I have a craving” mind you…STARVING. I finally understood where the term hunger-pains came from. I felt like I was being cored from the inside out. Simply ravenous. All I was wanted, needed, and could stand to eat was RED MEAT. Cheeseburgers and steak to be exact. Oh…did I tell you that I normally only eat tofu and veggies? Yeah…well I do like chicken or turkey too but the boy wasn’t having it. I loathed everything that I normally loved while pregnant with him. Even my Husband was sick of burgers by the time he was born. I felt like pregnant Bella from Twilight. Drawn to eat for the kid alone; Add in the absolute must-have craving for Raspberry syrup? I half expected the kid to be born sparkling.
Thankfully, I’ve finally gotten my taste buds back. Thai food and spring rolls makes me absolutely drool again. But you know what is funny? I still feel the same giddiness for brownies and iced coffee that I did while pregnant with each baby. At least I’ll always know what to ask for on Mothers Day! 😀
