I’ve traveled quite a bit and witnessed my fair share of memories. But one of the craziest things I got to experience was a random afternoon hail storm in late summer. And as you can see, it produced hail as large {and larger} as golf balls.
I’ve always heard of them happening. But living in Michigan you don’t see the tornadoes or hurricanes that most do in the rest of the US. Even volunteering for the Red Cross Disaster Relief; I always called to arrive after the the storms had past. But this hail storm? Completely random, out of the blue, and gone just as fast as it came.
The largest hail that fell that day looked about the size of a small baseball. It splinted near our side door into about four pieces. One of which, is what I’m holding. From all I experienced, I’m always in awe of Mother Nature and her weathered tempers. What is the coolest thing you’ve ever seen?
Welcome to my {daily} post as part of the #BlogHer National Blogging Posting Month! Or as its more commonly known…NaBloPoMo. Each month there will be a theme, and each day there is a “raw” writing challenge. Each weekend, we are left to our devices to dabble as we please. Length is not a requirement, not even words…only creativity. And the determination to write/post each day, every day, uniquely to the task at hand.

Wow..I remember seeing hail like that in TX on vacation one time. I never saw it here that large. Normally pepples, and not often. Mom just phoned to say we will be having bad weather late this afternoon and all night.. Tomorrow should be cooling down here FINALLY. It has been brutal this summer. When I was visiting in ND I saw a large funnel in the distance. That nearly did me in..I remember being terrified. Now, when I look at the pictures it is “cool”..

Yup! I couldn’t believe it either! Or the fact that it had splinted off in four pieces from the main ball that came down. I wasn’t too eager to venture out for the rest of it. LOL
