Are you ready for some FOOTBALL?
I absolutely LOVE watching, tailgating, and otherwise enjoying every aspect that a great football game brings. As girl growing up, my Dad wasn’t really into sports, and my brother never played competitively; So my NFL love was a late bloomer. My first game? Was the SuperBowl {XXXII} in San Deigo, CA and I volunteered as an Audience Leader. What is that you ask? Well I got to lead the fans to interact during the Half-Time show. I also, got to watch the most of the game at the field level, 50-yard line. So suffice to say, it was a great introduction to Game Day spirit!
After meeting my Husband I got more of a chance to enjoy football and find my favorite teams to root for. And now having kids, I am having a lot of fun incorporating them into our weekend game time as well. With great friends in and around Pennsylvania, we LOVE the Pittsburgh Steelers and the incredible spirit the fans have. But hailing from the great state of Michigan, its a welcome duty to support our home team, the Detroit Lions!
So I was on a mission to find some great Detroit Lions gear for the kids this year. The problem is {as most families notice} there isn’t much NFL gear for kids. And there is even less, that doesn’t cost a small fortune. So you can imagine my excitement when I discovered MascotWear. Stocked at our local WalMart and online, you can find everything from Lounge Pillows, Sleepers, Hooded Blankets, Clothing, and Loofahs. And its not just NFL but also every major sports league you could love, including collegiate teams.
After perusing the items available, what I wanted most was the NFL Loofahs. {The collegiate loofahs were a close second though!} Due to my Husband travelling last weekend we didn’t get to properly celebrate the first game of football season. {Think unofficial holiday.} So we had planned a grill-inspired feast complete with a little game day goodie for the kids to discover. {I also wanted to buy extras to send to our football PA friends as well.}
I hunted down the local WalMart that offered what I was looking for, and with a little help from Customer Service, I found the Detroit Lions MascotWear Loofahs! You can see in my recent Google + post too, {NFL #MascotWear Loofah Shop} that I also grabbed NFL inspired cups, plates, napkins, candies, lanyards, and keychains. All in all, I got just what I was looking for to create a great Detroit Lions gift-cup!
Being ever resourceful, I love giving reusable totes instead of gift bags. Or in this case, I found these incredible .97 cent NFL and Detroit Lion plastic cups. My additional items that I planned on stuffing inside were a food based item {peanuts or candy}; NFL lanyard, a Detroit Lions keychain, and of course capping it all off was my MascotWear loofah! Sky is really the limit, but I wanted to highlight our spongy little Loofah friend on top.
So as the kids played at the park, I tossed all my goodies on the table. I chose to get toddler-friendly sized Circus Peanuts {for Otis} and mini-NFL Snickers {for Isabel} to put in our gift-cups.
And for the finished kid-tastic gift presentation? After you’re done layering your goodies inside, your MascotWear loofah fits snug at the top to hold it all in. Set them out with a few pieces of candy littered around the cups for a grand effect. {Leaving the candy packaged, we’ll still be able to mail this to our football friends.} And it also works great to double as a table centerpiece for both kid and adult aged football parties.
With the kids happy {and all sugared up} Pete & I got to work on dinner, watching the game, and simply celebrating the moments that make family days fun and Life worth living.
Overall we had a really great time and I hope that you did you too as you got to share our first football game of the 2012 NFL season. Pete, {my Husband} made sure to tell me that the camera works both ways. So next post, you’ll get to see me getting in some pics with the kids too. Until then, here’s some great snapshots of him and the kids on our Game Day holiday!

How fun! I’m not a huge sports fan, but I make an effort to understand things so my husband has someone to talk to about it. I do love the football get togethers that we have. You’re so creative and your kids are too cute!
