How healthy is your home? Having a young family, {my kiddo’s are 1 and 4} it seems like we are always in need of band-aids for boo-boo’s. But we quickly found out that for little fingers and sensitive baby skin; Not every band-aid will do. Add in the ever constant need for wiping down hands, strollers, misc waiting room toys, or shopping carts? And it all seems like we are on a never ending quest against the ever prevailing “no-see-ums“.
To make things even more complicated, as a Stay-At-Home-Mom, I want to find the most value for my dollar. So with that in mind, we shop at Sams Club…a lot. Hands down, when you can purchase in bulk, you’ll generally get the biggest discount. And with the huge variety of great products year round {including awesome seasonal deals}, Sam’s Club is always a staple in our pantry.
Its also a staple in our medicine cabinet. And in this case, our desperately disorganized First Aid kit. So I packed up the family this past week and headed to Sam’s Club. All in purpose to find a wall-mountable replacement for our itty-bitty embarrassment of a “Dr. Mom” kit. Things I wanted to correct:
- Finding great band-aids for the whole family.
- Acquiring a wall-mounted first aid kit to mount up high away from the kids.
- Re-purpose our existing first aid kit for our vehicle.
- And buy the biggest hand sanitize wipes box to stock us for both home and van first aid kits.
Once we got home I ripped everything apart to really construct the perfect First Aid kit for our family. We’ll be hanging our kit in our master bedroom closet. A walk-in, its cool and dry so any OTC medicines we store won’t be suspect to the humidity often found in “traditional” bathroom storage. Plus it has a specially designed fold out inner shelf to open up even more storage space.
We love the Band-Aid Brand QuiltVent band aids that Sam’s Club carried. And for just $9.98 we managed to buy a collection of 180 bandages for our every need. For our household first aid kit; I made sure stock our Germ X hand sanitizing wipes. And most importantly, I stocked our Band-Aid QuiltVent bandages. We also stocked markers to make our favorite fabric band aids more personalized and kid friendly. When common scrapes turn into deeper cuts, proper wound care is a must despite the popularity of Elmo or Barbie fashions. But the Band-Aid brand makes sure to protect us all, big or small.
Want to know some of my favorite Band-Aid brand designs? Seriously the person who invented the fingertip design; How genius {and helpful} is THAT! But also the new QuiltVent technology concept has me equally impressed. This new concept creates air channels for wound breathability. And it also will wick away the blood to keep your injury clean. Having used a sample last month after getting bit by the toaster, {I must confess true talent on that one} I was really impressed on how well the band aid stayed put. But also, that my fingertip didn’t get that prune effect that it normally does when wrapped up to heal.
So with one kit down, I just wanted to dump out our old kit and establish a great one for our vehicle. This kit was more for the items we may need “on-the-go”. As you can see, it wasn’t much before. But afterwards, it was decked out in great Band-Aid brand style and portability for any type of immediate need we may have while at the park or simple scuff from a slip and fall.
All in all. I am so relieved to have updated and replaced our old outdated first aid kit. Roughly it cost $20 for our new kit; $10 for 180 Band-Aid QuiltVent band aids; and $10 for our individually packed sanitizing wipes. So for $40, we’re pretty much set until October of 2014. Literally, as that is the expiration date on our new First Aid kit.
Make sure to check out this awesome design in person. {I’m sure you’ll be amazed at the quality and new design.} This picture above is of the waterproof band aid featuring the QuiltVent technology. These were included in our bulk Band Aid package and are actually perfect to show you exactly what the QuiltVent design is. These also happen to be my Husbands favorite band aid since they don’t budge or get your wound wet once you put it on. Overall, I loved finding just what we needed at Sam’s Club. And its really a great value to find a box of Band Aids that not only work exceptionally well, but fit every boo-boo and finger of my family.

You did a great job on your first aid kit! I’d say $20 is a wonderful investment for so many awesome items to help your family when they get boo-boos!

Band Aid is my favorite brand for first aid. I like the idea of having a wall mounted first aid kit in the closet. I had never thought about moisture in the bathroom compromising the products in the kit. Good quality first aid is a must!
