Tonight we started to put our Christmas Tree up.
I have to ask, is there anything more precious then that first moment that your baby experiences the magic of the season? As we get older its so easy to lose that spirit or awe. Even my four-year-old shocked me by saying that Santa wasn’t actually real. I had to keep from stammering to convince her otherwise.
The world is filled with so much hardship its easy to numb ourselves to its fancy. I don’t need to be materialistic to crave it. I don’t need money to complete it. But what I do need is the chance to pause in its belief that good things come to good people. And if I don’t celebrate that, then how can I expect to raise children that would?
What about you? What holiday do you consider the most important?
Jackie says
I like Christmas – and for much the same reason you do. It’s a time that just seems to bring out the best in people and it’s something I want my boys to understand – that feeling. I want them to hold it all year long and be giving and caring like we all seem to do at this time of the year. And I do remember those first magic moments when they ‘got it’. They’re still young, but those first Wow’s were special.
I’m stopping by to welcome you to the Biannual Blogathon Bash coming up in January. We’re so happy to have you join in on the fun and I know that you’ll get so much out of the weekend. We’re looking forward to seeing you there!
