Clutter. If you want to know where my {or any Momma’s} energy gets sucked into a black hole, its the organized chaos that comes with kids. Despite my best intentions to keep my home looking Pinterest pretty, I’m sure you’d think clutter was my second cousin. And oh…do I hate it.
I simply detest the clutter that clings like a magnet to my work-space. Actually, I think my whole home is magnetized some days. Sure, I can stack it nicely to camouflage the real reason its there. I have to admit the person who invented the home design aesthetic of randomly stacked books is genius! But I bet it was a Mom simply shoving more stuff where ever it would fit before company came over. She probably went and laughed it up good behind a glass of wine that night after someone told her how eclectic and functional that looked.
Cause me, I’m totally in love with function-based design. In fact, my dining room table is actually a huge desk with a bookcase attached. Its laden with dishes, bitters, boxes, and knick-knacks and creates a great room divide to separate the dining area. Creativity is key to me. If I can’t live in an inspired environment then I can’t be inspired. Which gets back to shucking this desk like an ear of corn some days.
But enough about me…what about you? How do you best use your energy to remain productive?

Clutter is a major problem for me right now, living in a 2 bedroom apartment with 5 people (3 of those being kids) is not conductive to Pinterest perfect living spaces! I hope that when we move this weekend I will be able to get rid of a ton of things and make the house less cluttered, since some people (mother-in-law) sees the clutter and automatically says the house is dirty 🙁

Right there w/you too on the small living space! Aren’t those negative minded people annoying? But oh, I’m jealous your moving now…I can’t wait to move this spring. We have four peeps now in a 2-bedroom that was originally built as a 1-bedroom w/a den. It has worked out great to move us to a new town for a great job advancement but the Universe is steadily reminding me that we’re ready to pack it up. {LOL}

Love the new layout! Of course, you’re always changing stuff up here.

Thank you! And yes…its slowly evolving. I’m sure as soon as I’m happy with it – I’ll find a new theme I’ll just have to have. {LOL} And here I always wondered why I could never decide on whether or not to get a tattoo.

Pinterest has given me unrealistic expectations of my home LOL. I am not a fan of clutter yet I find that a lot of the time, I’m moving one pile from one spot to the next until it all ends up in my bedroom because “it needs to be sorted.” The rest of the house has so much less clutter but look at the top of my bureau and it’s clutter central!

Yesterday morning I freaked out because our Christmas tree was (still) up and decorated. I told my husband I couldn’t stand all the clutter! Isn’t it funny how something that was viewed as a decoration just a few days before transformed itself into clutter. Now that my house is free of Christmas decor, I feel renewed and relaxed.
Now it’s time to start making Valentine’s Day decor!
