Well – I made it through my first week using the Nutrisystem Women’s SUCCESS Select plan. And what a journey I’ve started! After my first week I’ve lost a total of 6.4 pounds! Considering my scale has been stuck at one number for months, I’m ecstatic!
Overall, my first weight loss goal is to lose 60 pounds in four months. Now, it must be said that the healthy and correct way to lose weight will mean losing 1-2 pounds per week. {Slow and steady wins the weight loss race peeps!} But as I admitted in my previous post, I do come to this table with a lot to lose – more then just weight if I’m not careful. And after being stuck at my starting weight for months, I’m really encouraged by this starting week on Nutrisystem.
Because success on Nutrisystem {for me at least} starts with taking care of my body for once. I’m eating 3 meals a day {breakfast, lunch, dinner} along with two snacks and dessert. As a Mom, I’d really drifted into eating like a Toddler. Which pretty much means nibbling all day long. Breakfast was normally coffee, and lunch was nearly always missed. That meant a double-portion at dinner because I was starving by then. Add in the snacks or late night nibbles plus my love for sugar and caffeine? Not a wonder there why I put on pounds.
So it was in correcting my behavior, that became the challenge this first week . Each day, your snacks on Nutrisystem are labeled for protein or carbs. You’ll also be adding either a protein or carb to your meals. While everyone knows the carb part is easy. Its consistently adding smart protein to my day that I was challenged with. {Well, that and drinking enough water.} So I didn’t have issues until about day 4.
By then, I’d realized I’d not planned on buying adequate “protein” to add-in for those meals and snacks. {I didn’t realize how often I’d get to EAT!} And my system, doesn’t metabolize protein well. Meaning I need to be selective in choosing a healthy, yet high protein source. So in true Mom-fashion, I tried substituting other protein foods we already had. This lead to me feeling hungry, low on energy, and lethargic. But it was entirely my own fault.
So now, knowing how to fuel my body the way it needs, I’ll be able to utilize the Women’s SUCCESS Select plan better. It was simply a lesson well learned. I’ve ordered protein powder to supplement my daily intake, and cold cups for keeping my water iced and handy. I’ll still be attempting to find ways to sneak my veggies in however, so if you have any great tips I’d love hear them.

Ohhhh! Thank you Kathy, I hope its the start of a great weight loss story! And that is an excellent idea. I never thought of using a yogurt dip – just knew that shaking it in the spices was SO not working for me. {LOL} I love the way you think! 😀
