This cheesy #CookinComfort sponsored post has been brought to you by a #CollectiveBias social shopper amplification campaign and its advertiser. Now go forth and let your eyes drool…its time for cookin’ up some comfort.
Really…does it get any better then seeing any comfort food consisting of Cheesy + Bacon + Ranch? I am positively enamored with this eclectic mix of yumminess. And the great way that Kraft Velveeta Cheesy Skillets are packaged, provide just the right amount of seasoning and cheese to take this box dinner to the next level.
So in my new quest to be more aware of what we eat, I must confess to one lasting remorseful impression. I miss taking our shopping aisles for granted. Ignorance was bliss before I had to learn how to decode ingredient lists and research things like “maltodextrin” and “monosodium glutamate”. I don’t know which pains me more now, my restricted shopping trips or my stomach when it simply longs for the comfort food of yore.
Because great comfort food isn’t just filling, its supposed to be easy! A fast grab from shelf to pantry in the model of these {awesome} Kraft Velveeta Cheesy Skillet dinner kits. I miss those old familiar flavors and semi-homemade ease. So when I do find some old favorites that help keep my kitchen meals balanced I grab it up and add it to my list of OMG-I-CAN-STILL-EAT-THIS! Ahem…well normally with only slight modification and a bit of regained shopping composure of course.
But really, I can totally handle switching out some pasta and adding in a bit of better-for-you veggies. Especially when adding something to my hallelujah-shopping-glee collection. And that is all I had to do with this Kraft Velveeta Cheesy Skillets dinner kit. Just grab the Chicken Bacon Ranch variety at your local Walmart and glance over the nutrition and ingredient list. Is it in line with your own personal health-focused plan too? Then get ready to rock your taste-buds with some down-home cheesy chicken bacon ranch goodness.
First up, I take out all the included elbows and give them to my kids to make a craft with. Be it necklaces or mosaics, the included elbow pasta will keep them busy and I can focus on getting dinner done all the faster. Kitchen and crafty Mommy in one night? Bonus! Plus then I don’t feel quite so bad buying another box of wheat free pasta to replace it with. Because really…one can always use more pasta to comfort life.
However for me, the best comfort food is pizza. So when I don’t have any other pasta on hand, I love to grab a thin pizza crust and load it up. Start by preheating your oven to 350 degrees. Mix up your bacon ranch seasoning separately with a whisk and a 1/4 cup hot water. Using a brush, cover the entire thin crust pizza including the crust and pop it in the oven to dry out for five minutes. I drench it just enough for little puddles of wet seasoning to form.
Once the first layer of seasoning is absorbed and baked in, take out your thin crust pizza and glaze it once more with your wet seasoning mix. Then top your pizza crust with shredded chicken, onions, green peppers, a light sprinkle of mozzerella-cheddar pizza cheese. Put your pizza back in the oven to cook to your preferred doneness. I normally like 10-15 minutes depending on how thick I top the pizza.
Once your pizza is done, use scissors to clip just the corner edge of the Velveeta white blanco sauce {included in the Kraft Cheesy Skillet Dinner Kit}. Then drizzle it across the top of your hot pizza. Sprinkle the included bacon bits over that and voila! A wholesome Cheesy Chicken Bacon Ranch Pizza is literally begging to be at your fingertips.
One Kraft Velveeta Cheesy Chicken Bacon Ranch boxed dinner will make multiple pizzas. Today, I only made one pizza. So I tossed all the remaining seasoning, ingredients, and 3/4 of the Velveeta blanco liquid cheese sauce into a deep pan to mix up with pasta I substituted. I normally use a Rotini or Penne Rigate for optimal cheesy sauce retention. Destined for a big bowl and large spoon, I prefer to finish it by topping the tomato and bacon bits last. Also, if there is any remaining Velveeta white blanco cheese, I’ll drizzle that on top as well.
And then your all set…curl up on the couch with a good movie and life is good. And so is the bacon. And so is finding all the comfort in your kitchen, oven, or bowl again. Plus if your really lucky you’ll get to celebrate with dried pasta crowns and noodle pictures later too. The only way this gets any better? Knowing you can leave room for dessert.
You’ll find a wide variety of Kraft products including these great Velveeta Cheesy Skillets at your local Walmart. What is your favorite way to cook up some comfort?
