Really, I was attempting to create something entirely different when I stumbled upon this fantastic combination of using Gourmet Garden’s Ginger and Chili Pepper spices with butter and grape jelly. And despite all my reasoning to pour it over something else, I wanted it…no…craved it over a fluffernutter sandwich.
Because I don’t know about you, but when you have young kids, cold days, and late nights…there simply isn’t much better then down-home comfort food. One such food I’ve loved to indulge in? The fluffernutter sandwich. However, I’ve never been completely partial to just having it solely with peanut butter and marshmallow fluff. I like to add something else in to cut the thickness of the peanut butter and sticky sweetness of the fluff. Enter this quick, pour-able ginger jelly and I have found a piece of heaven.
And for me…a mom of two young kids. This is about as “main dish” as I get some days. I typically swirl the two joys of peanut butter and fluff together in a bowl first. To layer it on the separate pieces of bread and mash together just doesn’t seem to do it justice. Whether alone or paired with fruit {or coffee}, its filling and a comfort at the same time. The ginger gives the traditional grape jelly a new lease on life, while the added chili pepper will add in a bit of heat that isn’t at all related to its new molten consistency. Be ready for a new favorite.

DH had fluffernutters growing up, and I have to admit I have an extreme fondness of peanut butter. These sandwiches look incredible and I know that he and I will be eating these very soon. We may even share with the kids!!
