This #FruitShoot sponsored post has been brought to you by Robinson’s Fruitshoot USA. As always my thoughts, opinions, and my #fuelyourimagination lunch packing enthusiasm are my own. Thank you!
My youngest started Kindergarten this year. I think I’m obligated to whisper “I’m so proud of her” and “Where has the time gone” right?
Well, I’m also totally and completely thrilled to have started her educational journey with the added options of virtual learning and private school homeschool partnerships. As she grows, things can continue to customize for her. Another thing that I love having options for? Her lunch.
I’ve heard its a rule of thumb that kids are picky eaters. But my little girl takes it in a whole new stratosphere. Since she’s home with me 60% of the week, she can eat normally. But on the days she’s venturing out and experiencing the classroom setting, she’s also experiencing the cafeteria. On a positive note, it means she only wants me to pack her lunch. However that also happens to be the challenge now too. {LOL}
Ironically, even knowing she likes small meals throughout the day, I still thought big with packing her lunch for the school day. As in sandwich baggies BIG. My mother-some worry that she’d be gone all day and need random sustenance clouded the fact that actual snack-sized food baggies existed. So did small fun individual compartments that she loves to open. I scaled it back, kept it healthy, and voila. She actually ATE. No more hungry girl, means one happy Momma.
Tips for Packing Lunches for Picky Eaters
- Pack lunch in snack-sized baggies or small reusable containers.
- Measure {or serve} food portions with silicone baking cups. Its quality, not quantity.
- Take a cue from trail mix and pack healthy combos for take-along mini meals.
- Don’t forget the water! Pack a refillable water bottle or thermos.
- Keep it fun with a favorite sweet treat or juice option.
- Don’t forget to pack a smile! What kid doesn’t love lunch-time notes?
Packing lunches for picky eaters is a constant struggle. But after exploring the world of Bentos; I’ve found our own way to make lunches fun, readily consumable, and satisfying for both her belly and my peace of mind. What different things do you do to encourage your kids to eat?
