Winter isn’t just coming anymore…its here! And I don’t know about you, but ’tis the season for comfort food in my home. Plus, nothing begs for down-home made from scratch deliciousness then coming home from busy shopping days. Thank goodness Marie Callender’s pies got the memo!
And how awesome is it to grab those deals and run down the frozen aisle for a hearty meal later? I tell you this, I got the very last one. {And that was only because someone put it back in the frozen veggies section.} But you’ll be sure to find it in the family sized entrees. I also picked up a bake-at-home garlic loaf of bread from the Walmart bakery.
My first cooking lesson was on making buttermilk biscuits. Such a perfect memory on the beauty of homemade meals. And I love the crumbly imperfections of a pie-crust made from scratch. Steam cracked, gravy boiling over a golden and flaky edge. But the world is a busier place then it was back than. So I’m thankful that when I can’t be the one to make it…I can at least know that Marie Callender’s tastes like homemade.
All this goodness, and its scooped with love into a bowl of hearty comfort. And oh! All that gravy, vegetables, and all white-meat chicken. The pie crust itself serves as the flaky appetizer to my infatuation with carbs. My dessert doesn’t have to be sweet, instead I crave the buttery soft and chewy crust of fresh-baked bread to dunk and wipe my serving clean.
One day I’ll be able to find the time to make my own homemade meals more often. And I look forward to that. But even then, I will still enjoy buying my bread to bake at home and my Marie Callender’s pot pies. Because good food {just like great times} deserves to be celebrated. What are you celebrating this holiday season?
You can find more wonderful eats on the Marie Callender’s facebook page. And while you’re signed in, make sure to stop by Roasted Beanz too. I’d love for you to show me your wonderful pics of Marie Callender’s pot pies that you bake!
