Football was made for food. And for me, the season just keeps us primed for the smorgasbord lovingly called “The Big Game”. This year I wanted burgers to satisfy our game day craze. And I think I came up with just the right grub for every snackable moment.
Enter my snack-happy love for all things Cheez-it and Pringles. Because what’s a great burger without the chips? And what’s an even better burger without Cheez-it’s in it? Yup, we’re talking stuffed burgers for this football buffet!
And just what does that entail? White cheddar cheese. First it means breaking out the spectacular Cheez-it Grooves. We’re talking a cracker and a chip all in one people! And in this case, the best flavored ground beef filler!
I just hand crumble these flavorful beauties in a paper towel. Then I take out my ground beef. A 73/27 ratio, this 2lb package is your typical party fare. I grabbed a handful, about a 1/4 pound, and mash in my crumbled Cheez-it Grooves to taste.
Just like a saltine will fill out your meatballs, this handy add-in will extend these football burgers. And what’s more, the snappy white cheddar cheese flavor will automatically season your burgers. Next, we stuff even more white cheddar goodness directly in the middle.
Once you’re burger is mixed, fold in your cubes or ball of cheese. And then place the completed masterpiece in your pan to fry. Of course if you’re grilling out in the snow drifts, this works there too. You’ll simply want a medium flame.
Personally, frying up your burger brings a whole new level of goodness. Preheat your pan for 1-3 minutes. Once you toss your burger in, wait 5 minutes to flip it the first time.
After the first flip, wait 3 minutes to press it back into shape with a spatula. Don’t press too hard. Regardless, some burgers simply cannot hold the cheesy goodness. Case in point, this one.
See, all food is not meant to look perfect. But then again why not embrace any molten ocean of cheese goodness? With the cheese oozing out, you can also see how well our Cheez-it Grooves have fried right in.
Now its time for a little sweet with all that savory. And the best bun for burgers? Day old glazed donuts. I kid you not. You’ll save a few dollars off the day-old shelves, or simply use this as an excuse to buy the bakers dozen next time. In any case, slice them in half and pop it into the toaster on low.
Plate and serve. You can even toss a few Bacon flavored Pringles on top. Mmmm…bacon flavored chips. All the flavor, and none of the fat to pick off. Yeah, lets just say I know what I’m getting again when I head back to Walmart.
And I’m definitely trying the new Cheez-it Crunch’d puffs next! With multiple flavors, these look right up my cheese-puff alley. But until then, I have Pringles…and will be stuffing myself {and my burgers} with the Cheez-it Grooves. All I need now is a foam Cheesehead hat and I’m good to go!
