If I only knew then what I know now. Even with the best advice, nothing can prepare a new parent for what its like to shop with young kids. Except coffee. {Coffee will always help.} And so will your smartphone…you ready to see how?
1. Snack Attack.
I remember my parents always having pennies for horse rides and quarters for trinkets as we left. While I won’t ever knock that age-old advice. I have moved my foodie ways to other options. And that includes snagging a quick bag of chips for the kids.
We always enter right by the self-serve checkouts. So for really quick trips, this is a snack for when we leave {Whaaa?!}. But otherwise, I do a quick loop right inside the door to quickly check-out a tasty snack for the kids to start our trip with. Just keep your receipt handy if you snack instore.
2. Super Heroes Assemble App.
Now, relax the wide eyes of fear presently visualizing little fingers smearing touchscreens. Because what I’m about to tell you is going to change your grocery shopping forever. Marvel is great at releasing smartphone apps with interactive shopping experiences. The newest is the Super Heroes Assemble app highlighting the newest movie, Avengers: Age Of Ultron. You can check it out on Google Play, or quickly download it for free on iTunes. A nice feature, is that the core download allows you to download characters and additional features as you need them. Meaning with the augmented reality and 360 degree interactive space you’ll be the only one blown away…not your memory card.
Now I want you to visualize your little ones laughing as they race together united on The Avengers scavenger hunt. The app unlocks new features when you scan different signage and products. Now between letting them search for Kellogg’s Fruit Snacks and Cheez-It‘s you can slide your items in. Fun and quick shopping? Game on people.
3. Special Reward.
Okay…so we may just want to call this peace offering what it really is. Bribery. Which as a parent, you know will get you everywhere. The great thing about shopping at Walmart, is that any special reward can be really affordable. From $1 coloring books to great Marvel Avengers: Age Of Ultron toys. There is always a great price waiting for well behaved kids.
We also unlocked special Super Heroes Assemble app features in the Toy aisle. The Hulk was guarding a treasure trove of fun Avengers: Age Of Ultron goodies. My daughter found a Captain America Flying Heroes toy right away. But it took my youngest a quick Eeeney-Meeney-Miney-Moe to discover what he really wanted. A quick glance up to find a Huffy Marvel’s The Avengers Scooter.
But this app isn’t just to placate the kiddos. Once you’re back home, you can pull up all the fun app features you unlocked. Easy to navigate, the homescreen opens you up to a world of Marvel Avenger characters, movie options, artwork, and games.
You already know the Discover button helps you unlock great features during your Walmart trip. Suit Up your selfie with fun character masks and weapons. But you can also unlock special Photo Opp’s with characters as well by scanning special signage. What I found awesome was clicking to enter the Movie and Characters menu.
I am a huge fan of the heading to the movie theater. That includes arriving early to see the previews. I swear, I look forward to them just as much as the movie I’m paying to see. So I loved scrolling through the trailers, photo gallery’s, featurettes and behind-the-scenes footage offered all within the app.
What was also cool was revisiting my favorite characters. As well as the new characters being introduced with the new Avengers: Age Of Ultron movie. I don’t know about you…but as much as I love the Hulk, who wouldn’t love to see the Hulkbuster armor in action?
So when its time for you to assemble the kiddos for your next shopping trip, think of these fun tips. With all the great products from Kellogg’s, Hasbro, Dr. Pepper, and Marvel there is tons of secret content to reveal! You can even scan specially marked Avengers: Age Of Ultron packaging to unlock even more features. For example, starting 4/30-15, if you scan any 12-packs of The Avengers Dr. Pepper product {or the in-store signage} you’ll unlock a digital comic book.
Now…are you ready to save the world from future shopping chaos and disaster? What different ways do you find that make it easier to get things done with the kiddos in tow?

This app IS perfect for those hectic grocery shopping trips, even better when both kids have devices of their own! I totally agree with picking up a little food for the kids to eat too. Makes an enormous difference. #client
