The cooler weather is coming. But as Fall creeps and Summer lingers comes the Indian Summer dinner conundrum. I want my comfort food, but I also want to cook outside. See how Tyson® Cornish Hens and Kikkoman® Orange Sauce is the perfect answer.
And people. Its so, so easy to cook up juicy Cornish Hens for dinner! Not only could you set these in a roaster; but you can bake them conventionally at 350° for roughly 1 hour depending on the bird. Internal temps need to be 180°, but you can also grill these beauties!
And better yet…Walmart carries them in a 2-pack from Tyson®. They’ll be stocked in the Meat Section, sometimes in an adjacent cooler. And since we were out, I made sure to grab our favorite Kikkomman®, the Orange Sauce. I also picked up some Great Value unsalted butter.
Now lets go back to easy dinners on busy weeknights. Which pretty much finds me preparing foods for the on Sunday. So I preheated our oven to 350°. And prepped my {mostly} thawed Cornish Hens with freshly ground Salt and Pepper.
I rubbed a bit of unsalted butter on the legs and wings. Then placed a nice tab on top of the breast. Continue to baste the bird with butter as it cooks. Mine was in for 1-1/2 hours, but only as it was too stubborn to thaw beforehand. Then I let the Cornish Hens cool and placed them in the fridge.
Something to note, is that quality meat doesn’t need a lot of seasoning. And Tyson® Cornish Hens are All Natural. They don’t contain artificial ingredients or preservatives. And there are no added hormones or steroids. I don’t even have to worry about cleaning out giblets.
Now all I’d need to do was reheat to eat. But even if you don’t do pre-prep meals; all you’d need is 1-2 hours {depending on your grill} to serve this for dinner. Which is also a great idea for tailgating too, since the bird would be cooked and basted by halftime.
For our dinner, I heated up our charcoal grill and placed my fruit to grill first. Afterwards, I added orange slices and a Cornish Hen to reheat. While doing so, I slathered on a repeated basting of Orange Sauce.
Divine isn’t the word for the tantalizing zing Kikkoman® will add to your grilled Cornish Hen. It’s amazing as a grilling baste or brine to guarantee a juicy bird. For this, layer on the Orange Sauce while adding more fresh ground Salt and Pepper to taste. Then serve to the adoring masses.
And there you have it. A very simple dinner idea to freshen up your plate with grilled Tyson® Cornish Hens. Is the Orange Sauce from Kikkoman® your favorite too? Tell me how you keep it easy during dinner on busy weeknights!
