Are you ready to give happiness this holiday season? I know I am, and so is Coca-Cola! I was thrilled to hear they’ve teamed up with The Salvation Army to help families in need. Ready to hear how your next prepared meal from the Walmart Deli will help feed others too?
They’ve always said its better to give than to receive. And I couldn’t agree more. Unless of course, giving to yourself means also giving to those in need. Which is precisely the win/win we all love when you decide to #GiveHappiness this holiday season too!
Just what do you have to do? Simply head over to the Walmart Deli this November and December to pick up a tasty prepared meal with your favorite Coca-Cola products. Great effortless meal ideas to take home to the family include:
- Rotisserie Chicken
- Pizza
- Sandwiches
- Ribs
- Macaroni Salad
- Potato Salad
- Breadsticks
And just like that, you will support Coca-Cola at Walmart. With each purchase, The Salvation Army is able to give to those in need a warm meal to celebrate the holiday together.
Effortless meals are always a big hit in our home. So I picked up a hot, family sized Rotisserie Chicken. Then I found a 2lb container of baked beans in a cooler and a freshly made Waldorf Salad, all from the Walmart Deli.
And just like that, a busy day just got easier. Because sometimes, that’s all this Momma needs. A quick seat and a comforting meal. And that means more time spent with these two kiddos of mine!
Now…all you’ll have left to ponder is how you’ll enjoy that extra time saved from the kitchen tonight! For us, we decided to get a little creative. So we used our Coca Cola bottle to create a Red Kettle savings bank! The kids love seeking out The Salvation Army’s red kettle bell. Now they can easily keep our change handy at the house to bring with for shopping trips.
To begin, all you’ll need is the following:
Coca-Cola Bottle
Red Paint
Black Sharpie Marker
Dental Floss or yarn
Craft Bell
Start by enjoying your delicious Coca-Cola with dinner.
Afterwards, rinse out the bottle, and remove the outer labeling while setting aside the bottle cap. At this point I like to draw in my cutting guide lines with a black sharpie.
Next, pour in red paint to shake and coat the inside of the bottle. I used a Acrylic paint that was non-toxic and water soluble. And the little bit of water left inside the bottle thinned the paint just enough to coat the inside well. Allow red Coca-Cola kettle to dry.
Or in our case, wait till its nearly dry in rapt anticipation and get red paint everywhere. I do promise you’ll have fun either way. Using a knife and scissors, we cut out two rectangles on each side to create the red basket.
Then using yarn, we dangled the cord inside tying on our jingle bell to chime as we carry it on our way. Sandpaper would also help to smooth out any sharp edges. But when you craft with kids, imperfections make things beautiful don’t they?
Now…want to do even more to help? Spread the word with us on social media about the #GiveHappiness initiative! Gather up the family to share a photo on social media of your family enjoying a prepared meal from Walmart too! Make sure you include a Coca-Cola product {Coke, Diet Coke, Coke Zero, or Sprite} in your picture and use the hashtag #GiveHappiness.
And what fabulous eats will you bring home next?
