I am not a crafting pro. That doesn’t mean however that I can’t let my fun side out and stock up the crafting supplies like I was. So with all those fog delays, teacher in-service, and snow days looming? See how we like to keep it crafty in the kitchen with a little Pop Secret!
Because in our house…the proverbial {popcorn} bowl is always half full to overflowing. And when I do pull out a bag of our favorite microwave popcorn? These kids know we’re in for a good time. And that’s always the case too with half days, sick days, rainy days or snow days.
One of my favorite Pop Secret popcorn flavors is the Kettle Corn. Hands down, you can do so much with this sweet and salty flavor. Whether straight out of the bag or sprinkled with Cinnamon-Sugar, it can never go wrong.
But my favorite way to dine on this Kettle Corn Pop Secret favorite? Well…that’s where you need to get a little crafty. And here is where the real fun begins. Because the secret of life, really is about enjoying the little things.
Little things like tiny fingers and prized paperclips. Sometimes that can simply mean spending a little time as well. So one afternoon I gathered up all my favorite littles. From crayons to construction paper, the kids and I piled our favorite art supplies onto the table.
Fresh and hot, huge bowls of Pop Secret popcorn adorned this new creative playscape as well. The kids drew rainbows and sunshine from the stacks of paper. We laughed and nibbled popcorn, all the while chaining paper clips. But instead of glue, we kept our art work edible {and reusable} using yellow frosting.
Straight from the can, we dabbed along where our clouds of popcorn would go. Then we curled our paper clip treasures along the drawn lines. Not only fun to create, but equally fun to indulge in afterwards. Because if you haven’t tried frosting on your Kettle Corn, you’ve been missing out.
Full bellies and happy hearts later, they relished enjoying their artwork as much as creating it. Not once was there a “I’m bored” as they improved the dexterity in their fingers lacing paper clips. Imaginations soared as they drew to their hearts content. And I loved hearing giggles from jokes that didn’t come from a TV.
So the next time school is called off or the fog rolls in. Look forward to breathing deep, and popping up the secret to a great day. Who knows, if your ready to let your fun side out that could mean a year’s supply of popcorn!
