I actually admit to happening by this miraculous gifting wonder by mistake. One Christmas season, I didn’t allow my fudge to boil long enough to set properly. And as a result we ended up eating a 9×13 pan of Fudge with a spoon.
It was divine, and lead to an even more divine inspiration. Creating our own Fudge Sauce. The kind that tastes like the platter we want to inhale but know we shouldn’t. And one that now that allows us to pour, smear, drizzle and dollop on everything the holidays laid before us.
To begin, you can find the SPLENDA® Sugar Blend at Walmart. Do note that this blend dissolves much faster than using only regular sugar. So while you may be used to hustling with homemade fudge because it sets so fast, now you’ll have to be watchful or you’ll overheat it. While this recipe has already been converted, this Sugar-to-SPLENDA® conversion chart can help you with your own recipes.
Pour just enough water {2-3 tbsp} into a medium saucepan and add your SPLENDA® Sugar Blend over a medium-low heat. As soon as its dissolved, stir in your evaporated milk and then add the softened butter. Stir 30 seconds to melt, and remove from heat.
At this point, you can stir in your optional fudge ingredients. For this batch, I briskly stirred in 1 bag of semi-sweet chocolate morsels and 5-7oz of marshmallow fluff to melt. Then stir in 1 tsp vanilla. Without delay, pour into heat resistant and seal-able holiday containers or mason jars.
And now you’re ready to gift awesomeness! Or feel free to keep said chocolate wonder to smear, spread, and spoon to your hearts delight. Whatever your choice…this was like keeping memories in a jar for us.
Sauce will thicken as it cools. If serving immediately, make sure to chill for 1 hour before serving. And if stored, this fudge sauce will need to be refrigerated. I actually made a hot fudge sauce a few years ago to give as gifts for the holidays. I would love to give it a try with the Splenda® since we ate way too much of it and nobody needs all those extra calories. #client
