I remember when my kids were babies. And the collective village said things would get easier as they got older. They’re nearly 5 & 8 now, and I’m still looking forward to that day. But at least I can claim a better-for-you morning with this easy smoothie recipe!
Just how does it make my day so much brighter? Because using an easy base of Jif peanut powder and Dannon Oikos (Vanilla) Triple Zero Greek Nonfat Yogurt I can build up and blend a different smoothie for each of us. I can also use iBotta to save $1.50 when buying my Jif & Oikos products. We’re talking win/win here people.
So with my basic goodies in tow, I even picked up an Oster® Blend-N-Go® MyBlend® personal sized blender at Walmart as well. Just the right size it also comes with a to-go cap, so I can easily stack in my ingredients, to fill, blend & go! And as seen in the image above, iBotta even has a handy recipe of their own as you unlock and claim your savings.
The base recipe is simple:
- 3 Tbsp Peanut Powder
- 1 Cup Vanilla Yogurt
- 1/2 Cup Milk
I toss these 3 ingredients and I’m ready to blend and serve! For instance my daughter loves straight up and simple. I add 1/2 a banana and she’s in love w/a thick Peanut Butter Banana Smoothie.
My son? He’s all about the chocolate. While straight up chocolate sauce can always do, so will a heaping spoonful of fudge sauce. Add 1/4 cup additional milk and you’ll be set for the day too.
But for me? What can I say but…coffee please! When blending up my favorite, I’ll build on the kids suggestions and add one serving of instant espresso or coffee powder. I like my smoothie thinner however, and add a 1/2 cup milk to the base recipe. This gives me a smoothie of rich, protein packed Peanut Butter & Banana Mocha proportions.
For us, added protein in our day simply makes for a better choice. And while I may blend in unique ingredient here or there; overall it’s great to know this base recipe proves to be the perfect protein boost! Not to mention that Jif Peanut Powder has 85% less fat than traditional peanut butter. I also love tossing Cocoa Nibs on top.
And now it’s your turn! I’d love to try something new too. So do sound off in the comments and tell me what your favorite smoothie is. And just how would you blend up a better for you morning?
