If there’s one thing I love to do, it’s strolling through the delectible sights and sounds of a Farmer’s Market. Picked at the peak of freshess, this is produce that begs to be eaten. Where the crisp smell of fresh herbs tickle the nose. And a place where the honor system is connected to more than your wallet.
We simply trust being so close to a farmer’s wares. To even meet them at times, and wonder how it must feel to know they sustain so many. Because just stocking the table for my family with fresh fruits and veggies is invigorating. And now, pairing said goodies with fresh tasting pantry staples just got easier too.
And that is found with just a quick stop at Walmart for the new Prego® Farmers’ Market sauces. My local store was stocked up on the Classic Marinara and Tomato & Basil. There is even a Roasted Garlic variety that I’m sure to love too. And what I was really encouraged to see? A simple list of farm fresh ingredients and a lower (per serving) sugar content.
Because as any farm-to-table loving girl will know? That eating well doesn’t neccesarily mean giving up on shelf stable, convenient choices. And when that benefit is time saved and a plate filled with even more irresistible taste? Well, let me share how that inspires me!
For one, saving time on making my own sauce, means I have more time for a homemade crust. And since I’m embracing the tomato and basil with a Margherita Pizza? Then I pulled out the Prego® Farmers’ Market Tomato & Basil sauce to set that flavorful tone.
I mean really…don’t you just drool seeing all that red sauce goodness? Not to mention that when you crack open a jar of Prego® Farmers’ Market sauce, it smells divine. Like a vine-ripened summer, just waiting for you dig in!
And let’s not forget our other Farmer’s Market finds too. For this pizza, I have diced up basil, sliced Roma tomatoes, and fresh mozzarella rounds. All to top it off for that perfect slice to drool over.
And that dear friends is about as hard as this easy pizza recipe gets. Due to my homemade pizza crust being a little on the thicker side, I used 1/2 cup of the Prego® Farmers’ Market Tomato & Basil sauce.
Next, I placed 3 fresh fresh mozzarella rounds on top of the sauce. Topping the cheese and open areas of sauce with sliced tomato. Then scattering the diced basil throughout. Having made my pizza crust, my oven was already preheated to 350° degrees. I like waiting until the mozzarella cheese melts just right, so this pizza cooked for 15-20 minutes.
And there you have it. Amazing flavor inspired from simple, farm fresh ingredients. So tell me, after all this easy pizza recipe goodness. What are your favorite flavors of the Farmer’s Market to bring home?

Nothing better than fresh, homemade pizza. We try and make it at least once a week. So so good. #client
