This #rumtoberfest post has been compensated in the form of gift card, product, and/or service received at a reduced price or gratis. As always, my rum infused foodie opinions are my own.
There are many things that make me look forward to the fall. Namely the food. But not everyone is ready to give up the summer’s spoils of sun, sand, or surf and turf. And that my peoples…is worth celebrating the final days of Rumtoberfest at Bahama Breeze Island Grille.
So on a particularly rainy Michigan day, I hopped over to my local Bahama Breeze for a bit of sunshine. And what I found was indeed a Pirate Paradise! From fresh catches to chef’s selections, this great menu is full of both limited time and island staples.
So I jumped on board and set sail first by ordering up the Pirate Paradise rum cocktail. Complete with take-home glass, this drink is a sweet combination of passion fruit, lime, vanilla, and bitters. And comes complete with a shot of Captain Morgan’s Spiced Rum tucked right in on top.
After this sweet treat, I was ready for a savory appetizer. Which the Tostones With Chicken served up very well! A longtime fan of plantains, Bahama Breeze blew me away with this plate. Using twice baked plantains, your is plate loaded with chicken, cheese, sweet peppers, mushrooms, and tomato salsa. The plantains were solid for the heavy lifting, and even reheated really well for a late night snack.
Next up? Why another drink of course! If you’re a fan of the islands (but not of rum) you can always celebrate with great mocktails selection. Quite frankly…I could not resist getting a Virgin Ultimate Pineapple. A frozen blend of pina colada, strawberry, and mango ices all poured into a freshly cut pineapple is sure to transport you to the islands.
Want to go full throttle? Then get ready to pull up a pineapple and stay awhile. All to get sipping on a strawberry iced swirl of spiced rum, Coco Lopez, and Bacardi Black Rum.
After all this goodness, guess what came next? Why an entree fit for a queen of course! While I hear the surf and turf at Bahama Breeze is divine. I couldn’t resist not trying the Rum & Coke Ribs for the first time. And people, these baby back ribs did not disappoint.
Drenched in the Bahama Breeze signature rum and coke glaze, they are fall off the bone tender. I was happy to see a good ratio of meat vs fat. The extra sauce and wet naps on demand was also a brilliant touch for finishing up an awesome plate.
Last but not least…who’s got room for dessert? Bahama Breeze Island Grille offers up a great selection of sweets for all appetites. So I finished my Rumtoberfest venture with a Hot Chocolate With Toasted Marshmallow. Which of course can be ordered spiked with your choice of: RumChata, Kahlua, Godiva Chocolate Liquor, or Fireball.
I have to say…this mug’s very existence makes me question why I have not toasted marshmallow for hot cocoa in the past. In fact, the huge melted toasted-to-perfection marshmallow steals the show from it’s hot cocoa counterpart. I suspect if the mug is spiked it will taste creamier based on your selection.
And there you have it…a peek during Rumtoberfest at Bahama Breeze. Make sure to hop over to see even more great drinks, treats, and special event info at www.bahamabreeze.com. But hurry, after November 6th, this rumtastic menu and Pirate Paradise will set sail.
