I’ve always loved the sunrise. There is something so inspiring about starting a new day. And there is even more inspiration in that first cup of coffee. Especially when I get to swirl in the delicious taste of almonds!
Because when it comes to my mug? I like to add some coffee to my creamer. The biggest issue I’ve had recently however, was to find ways to limit my dairy intake. And that is where I’ve really come to appreciate Silk® Almond Creamers.
Imagine it. All the goodness of Silk®, but in a coffee creamer! Because ya’ll…almond milk is great. But coffee just isn’t the same without that creamy, smooth sip. And that’s what makes this pint sized caramel wonder the perfect addition to my morning routine.
A new product, you can find this Caramel Almond Creamer in the refrigerated Dairy section. But rest assured, this creamer is still free of dairy, lactose, gluten, casein, egg, peanut and carrageenan. Let me also me add that Silk® is verified by the Non-GMO Project’s product verification program. So if you are adding soy to your diet, this is a reassuring way to do it!
I absolutely love this luscious Caramel flavor. With only a hint of sweetness, I can deluge my morning cup in creamer again. All while still being able to appreciate the taste of my coffee. I hear there is a pint-sized Vanilla Almond Creamer as well. It must be amazing too, as it was out of stock again this past week!
So now that I had my cup dairy free and flavor full? I was ready to see if Silk® could help me with one other craving I had. And that was for the taste and flavor of Bear Claw Pastries. And sure enough, this amazing new Silk® Almond Creamer provided another home run. Are you ready to see how my this smoothie scored?
For starters. I like using a measured cup and an immersion blender. Begin with 1 tsp of Amaretto Extract. And then pour in 2 ounces of Silk® Caramel Almond Creamer. Followed by 2 ounces of Silk® Vanilla Almond Milk.
Next, you’ll add in 4 ounces of iced coffee. I recommend using a cold brewed coffee, which is normally stronger in flavor. This does well to remain flavorful despite adding in creamers, milks and miscellaneous extras. Additionally, cold brewed coffee offers a lower acidity level. Which is a great bonus for the dairy free or more sensitive stomach.
Here is the most important part. Adding 1 tbsp of Almond Paste for a non-dairy smoothie. Now people, please note that there is a non-dairy almond paste. This paste is just pureed, sweetened almonds (you can even make this at home). And it should look like just like light pureed almonds.
There is also an almond “filling” that contains dairy. The reason I’m specifically pointing this out, is that it’s very easy to select the wrong can. And it wasn’t until I opened my can and took the picture above that I realized…I’d bought the wrong version. And ya’ll, I even know what I’m looking for.
Both will work for this smoothie, but I’d like to focus on a dairy-free recipe here. A modified recipe using the almond filling will be posted at well.
After adding your almond paste, you’ll add 1/2 a banana. Since I use a hand held blender, I break this into chunks. Then spoon in 1 serving (1.15oz or 32g) of almond butter. Blend until smooth. Once poured, top with slivered almonds for an added antioxidant boost!
With that, you’ve got a simple, delicious way to start each morning! So go ahead and give Silk® Almond Creamers a swirl in your coffee too. And be sure to check out even more great ways to make your days smoother with Silk® while shopping at Walmart! Now…what great pastries should I make into a smoothie next?
