Who’s ready to celebrate National Coffee Month with me? Always a fan of this perkalicious brew, September brings even more reason to walk down the coffee aisle. Which you’ve just got to come with me, and see how Mr. Coffee® is perking up my overnight oats with this Mocha Maple Overnight Oats recipe!
Which on a recent trip to Walmart, the kids and I happened upon a hot product demo near the freezer aisles. Seriously keep your eyes open. But you’re certain to smell what’s brewing if this new coffee pot is being showcased near you. This bright cherry red model was a beauty!
While sipping my brew sample, I marveled how I needed this 12-cup programmable coffee pot. With advanced brew capabilities, I don’t have to sacrifice style or taste anymore. And this Mr. Coffee® coffee maker has been a delight in my kitchen ever since.
The primary reason? That not all standard multi-cup coffee makers enable a water filtration feature. Coupled with a permanent basket filter, this coffee maker is a breeze to brew up a great tasting pot of coffee. As the hot water will pass through the filter prior to soaking in the coffee grounds.
The other good thing to note, is the option for regular or strong brew functions. Which come in handy when factoring in that this coffee maker measures 1-cup of brewed coffee at 5 oz. Typical coffee grounds measure out at 1-2 tbsp for every 6 oz. of water. Keeping it easy to adjust how strong you’ll want this Mr. Coffee® coffee maker to brew your coffee for the best taste.
One more interesting feature to note with this specific model is that it enables and auto-off after two hours. Remember this is a Style+Taste Advanced Brew Mr. Coffee® model. While we may love to keep that pot on all day, it’s reminding you that habit doesn’t bring the best tasting coffee. Personally, I prefer fresh tasting coffee and easily brew 4-8 cup increments to enable brewing more later as needed.
So what’s a girl to do with any coffee left at the bottom of the pot? Make overnight oats of course! With an average shelf life of 2 days, you can easily whip up this recipe and not waste a drop of your older brew. Now how’s that for making your mug and your bowl happy?
To begin, I bring out multiple glass bowls that have fitted lids. Then pour 1/2 cup of brewed coffee into a medium sized mixing bowl. I also add 1 tbsp of maple syrup. This is an optional sweetener. Have more coffee you’d like to use? Just keep doubling the recipe.
Next, add in 1/2 cup quick cooking rolled oats. Now there will be many different oat options for you to choose from. But standard oats require a longer soaking period. The quick cooking rolled oats enables this recipe to be ready to eat in 2-3 hours. If you find yourself with steel cut other regular oat varieties, your base liquid will require 6-12 hours to make the oats edible.
Exactly why would I want “overnight” oats to get done more quickly? Because this is a wonderful afternoon snack as well. Especially as it’s easy to grab when your running out the door for various appointments, after school activities, or planning late dinners. And regardless of how long you’ll have it soaking, it will still open to look like this.
Coffee will soak into the oats creating a thick oatmeal that will need to be stirred. At this point, I prefer to pour in a cream or milk. Or in this case, chocolate milk for a mocha effect. You can also thin the mixture with more coffee.
Once you’ve thinned the oatmeal to your preference, you’ll be in heaven with this mocha maple overnight oats recipe. And if you really want to get fancy, try this with a flavored coffee. I brewed up my favorite Michigan cherry flavored coffee. Creating a chocolate covered cherry essence. Topped with a dollop of whipped cream and a few mini semi-sweetened chocolate chips…I’m in caffeinated heaven.
Now are you ready for your spin on this great coffee maker? Then head to Walmart for your rollback prices and find your $5 coupon to save on Mr. Coffee® Coffeemakers and Espresso Units over $29. Now…how will you be celebrating National Coffee Month this September?
